Homophobia, a term often used to describe hostile reactions to lesbians and gay men, implies a unidimensional construct of attitudes as expressions of irrational fears. Many people in society today refuse to talk or be around a person that’s gay. If a person is Homophobic, they tend to treat the person that is gay with anger and hostility. Stereotypes and assumptions are at the root of heterosexist attitudes, simplifying the diverse LGBT community and often disempowering them beliefs if they were taught them by parents and families.
